Mumbai Metro's new National Common Mobility Card now active across 4 key lines & BEST buses
Starting today, commuters on Mumbai Metro Line 3 can now purchase tickets using a new National Common Mobility Card (NCMC). Operator Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRC) has launched the RuPay-powered NCMC card in partnership with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and State Bank of India (SBI).
Wider access across multiple metro lines
The card was officially launched on Tuesday at 11 AM by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. The card is not limited to Metro Line 3; it is also valid on Metro Lines 2A, 7, and 1. Commuters can purchase the card at any Metro Line 3 station or at designated SBI branches. While the card itself is free, users must load a minimum balance ranging from ₹7,100 to ₹72,000 to activate it.
Notably, the same card can also be used for BEST buses, offering a unified payment solution for the city’s public transport users. According to MMRC, the card aims to ease travel and reduce queuing time at ticket counters.
