Mumbai has given wings to numerous successful startup ventures in India. In fact, around 18 of the 108 unicorns of the nation are based in the city itself. Mumbai has gained recognition as a potential startup hub among entrepreneurs because of the many sectors and opportunities that are present, but the the high cost of doing business here is a deterrent.
In light of the same, as many as 30 prominent startup founders of the metropolis have collaborated to establish a ‘Brand Mumbai’ in an effort promote and nurture the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the city.
More about the establishment of ‘brand Mumbai’
Mumbai-based founders of recognizable ventures including Upgrad, Upstox, Dream 11, Pepperfry, Zepto, Pharmeasy, Rebel Foods, Clevertap, Loginext and many others will work towards the formulation of this organization which will serve the aforementioned vision for the startup sector.
This organization will most likely be chaired by the Dream 11 co-founder, Harsh Jain and will be termed as TEAM (Tech Entrepreneurs Association of Mumbai). Other members of TEAM will aid the organization financially.
Furthermore, the funds from the startup founders would be used for pushing government policies for the benefit and support of the entrepreneurial sector.
Current progress in the formulation of TEAM
Presently, the formulation of the non-profit organization is at the initial stage. It involves meetings and interactions between potential participants. In the near future, things will be further ironed out to set the gears in motion.
Moreover, the basic goal of TEAM is the promotion of ‘brand Mumbai’ as a favourable startup hub apart from the cities which excel in the incubation of startups i.e. Delhi & Bengaluru.
