Mumbai Weather | Chilly northerly winds to linger for another 2-3 days, before warmth sets in
Mumbai woke up to a crisp chill on Monday as the minimum temperature dropped to 13.7°C, marking the coldest December morning in nine years. The last time the city recorded such a low was in 2015 when mercury plunged to 11.4°C. Santacruz Station logged this sharp drop, 5.6°C below normal, while Colaba reported a comparatively milder 19.2°C.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) attributed the temperature dip to a change in wind patterns. The cold and dry Northerly Winds are responsible for the current drop in temperature in Mumbai, an IMD official explained. This trend is expected to persist for another two to three days before easterly winds bring gradual warmth.
