Mumbai's Khar Railway Station and 4 other small suburban stations to get a facelift

The selected stations will get new ticket counters, elevated decks, wider platforms, and more.

Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MVRC) has undertaken the task of giving a facelift to five suburban railway stations in Mumbai. These include - Khar Railway Station along with Mira Road, Neral, Kasara, and Kandivali stations. Work on all five stations has already begun but the Khar station makeover is likely to be completed first, with March 2024 being the projected date.

Elevated decks, foot-over bridges, and more!

The transformation work at these five stations will be done on the lines of the facelift given to Andheri, Borivali, and Goregaon stations. This will include an elevated deck right above the platforms, which will be connected via a series of foot-over bridges.

Furthermore, the said concourse will be connected to an elevated ticket booking center, as well. A significant chunk of work has already been completed at the Khar Railway Station. It is noteworthy that the transformation work will be aimed at modernising the earmarked stations.

All the upgrades and new additions will be done with a focus on decongesting these suburban stations in Mumbai. For instance, the platforms at all these stations will be cleared to allow smooth, hassle-free movement of commuters during rush hour.
