A newly inaugurated foot overbridge (FOB) now connects Mumbai Metro Line 3’s CSMIA–T2 station directly to Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, improving convenience for air travellers. The 100-metre bridge enables passengers to bypass city traffic and reach the check-in area swiftly. Previously, passengers had to walk 450 metres through traffic to access Terminal 2. With the new FOB in place, this distance has been cut to 118 metres.

Features of the structure

A new Foot Over Bridge (FOB) now connects the underground CSMIA Metro Station (Line 3) directly to Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, making travel smoother, faster, and safer.

  • Length: 88 metres

  • Width: 4.3 metres

  • Height: 3 metres

  • Elevation: 23 metres above ground

  • Material: High-strength structural steel

  • Position: Constructed above the ongoing Metro Line 7A works

  • Connection point: Links directly to Lift Entry/Exit A1 at CSMIA–T2 station

Enhanced passenger experience

The bridge eliminates the need for road crossings, providing a safer and more efficient route for passengers, especially those with luggage. It allows for uninterrupted access between the metro and the terminal, improving last-mile connectivity as Metro Line 3 begins full operations.

Officials highlighted the engineering challenges involved, including the need to construct the bridge at a significant height above active infrastructure work on Metro Line 7A. Precision planning ensured safety and structural integrity throughout construction, without disrupting other ongoing projects.
