Stretching from Bandra Station to Lucky Junction, Bandra Skywalk's farewell commenced on May 23

However, not all citizens are aligned with the skywalk's demise.

On May 23, the first swing of a wrecking ball signaled the beginning of the end for the Bandra Skywalk, stretching from Bandra Station to Lucky Junction on SV Road by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The reason being: disrupting the timeless allure of Bandra Station. Parts of the skywalk had already been dismantled seven months prior to make way for the Metro line 2B (DN Nagar to Mandale). While the safety cover at the sides of the skywalk was removed, the pillars, the walkway and metal bars around it remained—until now.

Reports further added that work on traffic management in the area have improved station accessibility.

A prominent politician has taken up the cause and announced on X, “Owing to our persistent follow-up, the Bandra Skywalk, that was acting as a hindrance to traffic and was disturbing the aesthetics of our city, will be finally demolished tomorrow, May 23.”

However, not all welcome the skywalk's demise. Some residents were noted saying that the skywalk eased commutes and ensured safety. While another added that the skywalk served diverse needs, foreseeing challenges ahead without it.
