The highway assures time-saving, fuel efficient and eco-friendly travel.

A new six-lane express highway spanning 72 kilometers between Chitradurga and Davangere in Karnataka is set to transform travel between Bengaluru and Mumbai. The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways lauded the project as a "lifeline" connecting the financial capital with the tech hub.

The highway promises time-saving, fuel-efficient, and eco-friendly travel options, marking a significant enhancement in connectivity between the two cities.

Ease for freight transport, commuters, etc.

The minister also shared images of the stretch, highlighting its scenic vistas and eco-friendly features. The project, estimated at ₹1400 crores, prioritises sustainability with the use of materials like plastic in bituminous concrete and milling material in service roads.

This expressway complements previous initiatives like the construction of a highway between Nelamangala and Devihalli in Karnataka, further improving connectivity. Besides reducing travel time between Mumbai and Bengaluru, the new highway is expected to stimulate real estate development in Chitradurga, Davangere, and other areas in Northwest Karnataka.

With its well-planned route alignment, the expressway will seamlessly connect major cities and towns along its path, promising a boost to regional development.
