Travel from Navi Mumbai to JNPT in 15 mins with new Belapur-Uran ferry

Reportedly, the new service will just cost ₹300 for one way.

Addressing the high demand for a cheaper and hassle-free commute from Navi Mumbai to Uran, the Mumbai Port Trust launched a water taxi service between Belapur and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT). The said service will reduce the travel time between the two locations by 45 mins and ferry passengers in just 15 mins.

Water taxi at cheaper rates now

Earlier this year, MbPT started a ferry service from Bhaucha Dhakka Ferry Warf to Belapur that charged ₹1200/- for one way. Other than this, the ferry's carrying capacity was just 20-seats. The service soon came to an end after people demanded the service at a more reasonable price.

Keeping this in mind, the new 65-seater Belapur-Uran ferry service will cost the passenger ₹300/- for one way and ₹500/- for a round trip. Cheaper rates and hassle-free ferry service will help reduce vehicular traffic on the route, evading traffic during peak hours. In order to ensure last-mile connectivity, soon a taxi service will also be started from both locations.

More such initiatives in the pipeline

Additionally, another water taxi service will be started. The said service will run from Belapur to Gateway of India. As of now, no timeline has been issued for the service, however, the authorities have announced its carrying capacity and fare. The Belapur-Gateway of India ferry service will be a 200-seater ferry that will cost approx ₹400/- for one way.

At present, a total of 20 ferry services run across the Mumbai coastal region, offering commute to major destinations including, Arnala, Elephanta caves, Gateway of India, Essel World and Mandwa among others.
