In another major boost for India’s education sector, UK’s prestigious University of York is set to open its first Indian campus in Mumbai, announced at the WAVES summit. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Charlie Jeffery met our PM and signed an MoU with Maharashtra CM to launch the initiative, targeting a 2026 start pending UGC approvals.

The new campus will offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in AI, Cybersecurity, Business, Economics, and the Creative Industries, areas aligned with global job trends. Initially located in a prime business district, it will eventually expand into a state-of-the-art facility.

Alongside academics, the University will also launch the Co-Star Live Lab to boost research and innovation in digital media, gaming, and entertainment sectors. This partnership strengthens the UK-India educational ecosystem and promises world-class opportunities for Indian students.
