BMC proposes new pigeon-feeding locations amid ongoing ban

After banning pigeon feeding in public spaces three months ago, the BMC is now considering four designated spots, near Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Aarey Milk Colony, a mangrove patch in Wadala, and Gorai. This follows protests from the Jain community, for whom feeding pigeons is a religious practice. The decision is in line with a Bombay High Court order addressing health risks from pigeon droppings while balancing public health and religious practices.

Central Railway and MMRDA guarantee relocation with water for Dharavi evictees

Central Railways and MMRDA assured the Bombay High Court that 627 Dharavi slum residents, facing eviction for the Central Railway line expansion, will be provided with alternative housing in Kurla, complete with clean water and essential amenities. The authorities guaranteed that the new accommodation would be safe and livable.

BMC plans major restoration of Acworth Leprosy Hospital

Acworth Municipal Hospital, a historic British-era facility for leprosy patients in Wadala, is set for a ₹3.25 crore facelift. The BMC’s second phase of restoration includes the overhaul of heritage structures like the Leprosy Museum, Vipassana Hall, and the doctor’s bungalow. Restoration will focus on repairs, landscaping, and the illumination of these Grade II B-listed buildings. The project, expected to be completed in 18 months, follows a successful first phase completed in 2023.

Enrique Iglesias wows Mumbai fans after 13 years

Enrique Iglesias made a triumphant return to Mumbai after 13 years, performing at the MMRDA Grounds on 29 October 2025 and 30 October 2025, turning the venue into a nostalgic party for over 25,000 fans. His sold-out concert, part of a two-day show, had fans of all ages singing along to hits like ‘Hero’ and ‘Bailamos.’ With a flawless mix of ballads and dance anthems, Iglesias proved his timeless appeal, leaving Mumbai buzzing.

Bandra Fort to host 3-day music extravaganza, ‘Olly Fest’

The 385-year-old Bandra Fort will host the Olly Fest from November 14-16, celebrating music, heritage, and community. Created by four Bandra locals, the festival will feature legendary and emerging artists, including Indus Creed, Gary Lawyer, and Girish & The Chronicles, set against stunning views of the sea and Bandra-Worli Sea Link. India lifts First ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Trophy

India’s historic win at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup was sealed with a 52-run victory over South Africa at DY Patil Stadium. Shafali Verma’s 87 and Deepti Sharma’s all-round brilliance set the tone, as India posted 298/7. A brilliant bowling effort, led by Deepti’s five-wicket haul, bowled South Africa out for 246. It was a flawless display of grit, skill, and resilience from Team India, who made history in front of a jubilant home crowd.
