With 5% gradual monthly increase, Mumbai Metro Line 2A and 7 cross 50 million ridership mark
The newest addition to Mumbai Metro network, Line 2A and 7 have witnessed a gradual increase in ridership, since their commission on April 2, 2022. As per IANS, since then, these lines have served 5,05,22,330 commuters accounting for a 5% rise every month. Moreover, 40% (1.50 lakh) of the daily fare-payers have switched to Mumbai One Card, contributing to paperless ticketing and shorter queues at stations.
Extra entry-exit gate installed at Gundavali Station
Metro Line 2A from Dahisar to DN Nagar is 18.6 km-long elevated corridor connecting 17 stations. Whereas, Metro Line 7 from Andheri (E) to Dahisar (E) is a 16.5 km-long elevated corridor connecting 13 stations.
Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority officials added that Gundavali, Andheri West, Anand Nagar, Dahanukarwadi, Dahisar East, Kandivali West and Borivali West lines are daily commuter hotspots. Further, given the rush of passengers at Gundavali Station, authorities have installed an extra gate on Line 7, to ensure smooth entry-exit of passengers.
