WR to celebrate 160 years of Bandra Station with month-long 'Mahotsav'
Mumbai’s historic Bandra suburban railway station is set to mark its 160th anniversary with a grand Station Mahotsav starting June 20. Western Railway (WR) will kick off the celebrations with a commemorative postal stamp release, cultural performances, and station beautification to highlight its Victorian Gothic architecture.
Share old photos, join competitions in 160th anniversary
The festival invites public participation through art competitions, vlog-making, and Purani Yaadein, a nostalgia drive for sharing old photos and memories of the station. A light-and-sound show on July 5-6 will trace Bandra Station’s journey since 1864, while a badge-making activity and prize ceremony will conclude the festivities on July 27.
Western Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek highlighted that the celebrations are a tribute to Bandra’s enduring legacy, not just as a Grade-I heritage structure, but also as a vital part of Mumbai’s daily rhythm. Entries for competitions close June 30, with winning works displayed at the station and on WR’s social media.
