New CCTV cameras in 700 buses plying from Lucknow will make your rides safer

In a bid to make bus rides from Lucknow safer, better managed and more streamlined, the UPSRTC has decided that they will install CCTV cameras in 700 buses. The buses that they have chosen for this are the ones that originate from Lucknow and go to two places outside the city. The move will be put into place following the rise of accidents on highways and expressways.

These buses originate from Lucknow and terminate at either Delhi or Gorakhpur. On the two routes to Delhi- one via Bareilly and the other via Agra Expressway, buses will be fitted with CCTV cameras. In just the past week, there have been several fatal accidents and this is a move that will help curb it.

The other route- from Lucknow to Gorakhpur via Ayodhya is another high traffic route and it is vital that the required safety precautions be taken by bus operators.

As for the CCTV cameras themselves, they will be installed at two places in the buses- at the back and the front so as to ensure that the bus is safe from the inside and also keep an eye on the bus drivers. This will be particularly useful during the night time, when accidents are more prone to happen. Inside the bus too, there will be more order and less chance of any breakage of rules.

In case of an emergency, even after the installation of CCTV cameras, the authorities will get a chance to view and review any situation that arises and get to the root of the issue. For UPSRTC buses, this will be a great boon and will only plummet the demand of these buses.

We’re happy that such developments are finally making their way into the mainstream and hope that private bus operators also make use of such technology.
