Lucknow administration ties up with Flipkart to provide free medkits to home-isolated COVID patients
The Lucknow district administration has joined hands with the e-commerce platform, Flipkart, to provide free medicine kits to all COVID patients in home isolation. This step is streamlined with the state's agenda of providing the aforementioned facility across Uttar Pradesh. Besides this, the Chief Minister's helpline and integrated command centres have been directed to maintain regular dialogue and teleconsultation with these patients to prevent unnecessary hospitalisation.
Ensuring safe and quick delivery of medkits
As per reports, this venture is the brainchild of the Lucknow District Magistrate, Roshan Jacob, who noticed that deliveries of medical kits to isolated patients were getting delayed due to limited on-ground staff. Consequently, she roped in Flipkart to ensure the timely delivery of these kits, at no cost at all. As per the state directives, each medicine kit is packed with prescribed medicines for coronavirus treatment and dosages up to 1 week are covered in this, to provide immediate assistance to the patients.
Presently, there are around 15 delivery executives who have been assigned deliveries to about 1125 houses in Lucknow. In the coming days, about 40 such teams will be constituted to accelerate the drive. This will further expand the scope of transport and delivery of the medical kits, ensuring prescribed attention to the home-isolated patients in time.
Helpline and integrated control rooms to monitor COVID patients
Additionally, a government spokesperson also added "The chief minister's helpline will maintain regular contact with home quarantined patients and the integrated command and control centres will also be roped in for this work. They will speak to the patients once a day and seek an update on their health. If necessary, patients should be advised hospitalisation."
