25.5 crore saplings planted in UP on Sunday as part of a mega plantation drive

Uttar Pradesh witnessed a mega plantation drive on Sunday, wherein around 25.5 crore saplings were planted in a single day! This step has been taken with the aim of expanding the state's overall forest cover, which presently stands at 3.05% against the national average of 2.89%. Reportedly, the UP government targets to plant 30 crore saplings in July.

All health centres in UP to be linked with main roads to ease accessibility of medical facilities

Attempting to ease the accessibility of health and medical facilities for the residents of Uttar Pradesh, the government has issued instructions to connect all the community health centres (CHCs) and primary health centres (PHCs) in urban and rural areas, with the main roads. Moreover, to provide relief to the patients, all the CHC and PHC-connected roads in the state are presently being fortified.

There are 3,011 PHCs and 855 CHCs in UP while the number of urban PHCs is 592. On the other hand, there are 9 CHCs, 28 PHCs, 52 health post centres and 8 urban PHCs in the state capital Lucknow, currently.

Resumption of OPD services in Lucknow hospitals to ease out the backlog of surgeries!

Taking the plummeting tally of COVID cases into account, all community and primary health centres in the state have started with their OPD operations, to rehabilitate patients with general health issues. Consequently, official orders to start surgical services at all district hospitals in line with the COVID protocols, are in effect as well.

In congruence with the dropping infection count and other related directives of the administration, Lucknow's premier healthcare facilities, including SGPGI and KGMU, have recommenced their OPD functions. Now reportedly, over one lakh patients in the city are in the queue for surgeries as the non-COVID services are back on track.
