Lucknow's SGPGIMS to have an increased number of emergency beds from November

In a bid to augment the healthcare facilities in the city, Lucknow's Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences will operate with an increased count of emergency beds from November onward. As per reports, the authorities have decided for a seven-fold hike from the current figure of 30 beds to 210 units, withing the next two months. Once the plans are materialised, SGPGIMS will have the second highest number of emergency beds in the state, after KGMU.

Lucknow's SGPGI to offer liver transplantation services at no cost to the first 7 patients!

In an altruistic move, Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow has decided to conduct free liver transplantation surgeries for the first 7 patients. Under this program, the patient or his relatives will not have to bear any charges that are incurred as a part of the procedure. Notably, the hospital administration has already prepared and sent related proposals to the higher authorities and it is expected that the scheme would be approved soon.

Liver transplants at Lucknow's SGPGIMS to now be performed by an internal team of doctors

Adding to the premier services available at Lucknow's Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, the doctors at this centre will also perform liver transplants now. While the healthcare facility was dependent on help from the external staff for liver transplants till now, the procedure shall be conducted by an exclusively internal team now. For this purpose, a group of doctors has been formed and they are fully trained to perform the critical process.

Post-COVID treatment to be made free of cost in Lucknow & other UP districts

The state of Uttar Pradesh has decided to stretch the domain of free post-COVID treatment across all district health centres, hospitals and medical colleges. Reportedly, this provision was previously available only at designated state-run post COVID centres in UP. This decision has ushered in a significant economic respite for the people, who have been trialled by the grave infection and its hefty bills.

The facility will be provided in all medical colleges, state-aided, autonomous and private institutions including Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, King George's Medical University and Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences.
