Colleges in Mumbai & other Maharashtra districts to commence academic year from November 1

All Maharashtra colleges have been directed to commence their academic session from November 1, albeit digitally. On Monday, the State Higher and Technical Minister, Uday Samant, clarified that resumption of physical classes at educational institutes poses a high risk, especially with the impending fear of the third wave rise. The decision regarding the reopening of colleges for offline lectures will be taken as per the pandemic status in November.

IIT Bombay joins hands with Koita Foundation to launch India's first digital health centre

Mumbai's premier technology institute, IIT-B has set up the 'Koita Centre for Digital Health', the nation's first academic, research and industry collaboration in digital health. In a statement issued on Thursday, the Indian Institute of Technology announced the new venture, in association with the Koita Foundation, to address the health challenges exposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. This initiative followed a grant from its alumni, Rekha and Rizwan Koita, to enable better quality, convenience and affordability of healthcare via digital health.

Mumbai University announces dates for online exams for final year-last semester UG students

Releasing a circular on Wednesday, Mumbai University announced dates for online exams for the terminating undergraduate Batch of 2021 in wake of the COVID spike in Mumbai. The order states that regular and backlog theory exams for all final year- last semester UG programmes will be conducted from May 6 to May 21. The varsity expects all affiliated colleges to complete the first and second-year examinations before that, i.e. from April 15 to May 5.

BMC to review COVID-19 situation in Mumbai before permitting resumption of city colleges

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has extended the lockdown for colleges in Mumbai, Thane and neighbouring districts of Navi Mumbai. Earlier, all colleges in the state were set to resume from February 15 onwards, however, now the civic body has addressed a letter to the University of Mumbai, asking the varsity to keep its colleges closed until it reviews the COVID-19 situation.

The University of Mumbai has issued a list of COVID-19 precautionary guidelines as city colleges prepare to resume classes from February 15. All protocols have been issued in accordance with the state directives and the standard operating procedure (SOP) made public by the University Grants Commission in November 2020. The Mumbai University vided a circular on Friday, detailing guidelines for sanitation of colleges campuses, seating arrangement, specific measures to ensure student and staff safety amid the coronavirus pandemic.
