97% tunneling work completed on the fully underground Colaba-SEEPZ Metro line in Mumbai

Driven by the relentless efforts of MMRC officials, Mumbai Metro expansion plans have speeded up in the past few months. As per the latest developments, 97% of tunneling work on the longest and the completely underground Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ Mumbai Metro 3 corridor has been completed. The officials informed about the current progress on Wednesday, after the materialisation of the 39th breakthrough at Mahalaxmi.

Mumbai Metro 3 project speeds up with 38th breakthrough on Hutatma Chowk-CSMT station stretch

Moving ahead towards the launch of Metro Line 3, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has been successful in recording its 38th breakthrough on Monday. As per reports, the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) Surya-1, finished its last upline schedule from Hutatma Chowk to CSMT Metro Station, in South Mumbai. It has been reported that package-1 has registered cent percent underground drilling with the completion of the long tunnel from Cuffe Parade to CSMT Metro Station.

Maiden trials of the first phase of  Metro Lines 2A & 7 flagged off in Mumbai on Monday

As per the projected timeline, MMRDA commenced the maiden trials along a 20 km stretch of the overhead metro corridors, 2A and 7, on Monday. The Maharashtra CM flagged off the demo tests today, unrolling a festive spirit to honour the benchmark achievement. Reportedly, the Deputy CM, Mumbai Mayor along with other eminent cabinet ministers and MMRDA officials were present during the trial inauguration at the Akurli Metro Station.

This stretch will be launched as the second arm of the suburban metro corridor in the MMR, after 7 long years of Mumbai's solitary metro line, Metro 1. Authorities aim to commission commercial services along this sweep in two phases, starting September 2021.

MMRDA to conduct trial runs for Mumbai Metro elevated-corridors 2A & 7 from May 31

Mumbai's metro-mesh network is all set to amplify soon as the MMRDA has decided to start test runs on the overhead corridors of Line 2A and 7 from May 31. The Development Authority has attained the electrification work on the two suburban metro lines to launch the trials, Monday onwards, with the aim to commission commercial runs by October 2021. These elevated routes will slash the travel time by around two-third, compared to the existing duration of the road journey and ease road congestions, as well.

MMRDA aims to kickstart trial runs for Mumbai metro corridors 2A & 7 by May end

Mumbai's metro transport is set to receive a major boost soon as the MMRDA has decided to line up the trial runs for corridor 2A and 7 by the end of May. These will extend as the second phase of the metro-mesh in the MMR, connecting Dahisar East to Andheri East and Dahisar to DN Nagar, respectively.

As per the development authority plans, trail runs are likely to begin on May 26 along the 20 km-long stretch between Charkop Kamraj and Aarey Station, covering the two corridors. Reportedly, commercial runs along this sweep will begin by October and the entire line will be commissioned by the end of December 2021.
