Women from SHGs in Uttar Pradesh trained to make LED lights & other products

In a step to promote women's empowerment in the state, the Indian Industries Association (IIA) organised an LED workshop for the members of the self-help groups on Wednesday. Under this initiative, candidates were trained to produce LED lights, strings of light, LED bulbs and commodities of the 'One District One Product' program. All participants were also provided with toolkits ranging between ₹6,000 to ₹10,000, in a move to fuel financial independence.

Trumping social stereotypes and redefining gender roles, Rajasthan's Shivani Meena has become the first woman in the nation to don the cap of an excavation engineer. Marking her entry in a male dominated field, the IIT Jodhpur alumnus from Bharatpur has been deputed to work in a mechanised open cast mine at Coal India's arm CCL(Central Coalfields Limited). Mission Shakti 3.0 in UP to focus on sensitising men about Women's rights!

Launched on August 21, the third phase of Uttar Pradesh government's flagship program 'Mission Shakti' has now shifted its focus to sensitising men. With an aim to raise consciousness about the rights of females, amongst the male population, the Women's Welfare Department of Uttar Pradesh is organising awareness programs for the same. This campaign has touched more than 10 lakh citizens across 75 districts of the state, through seminars, workshops and other means of communication.

This Menstrual Hygiene Day, associate with GirlUp Lucknow's fundraising event for menstrual equity

With the pandemic and consequent curfew in effect, the percentage of women with access to safe, sanitary products has suffered a great blow. In an effort to establish menstrual equity, GirlUp India and Project Baala have joined hands to implement Project Adhikaar- a pan-India fundraiser and awareness campaign.
