This year, the results of Swachh Survekshan 2020 has left Uttar Pradesh in a sweet spot and Lucknow is a major contributing factor to it. UP has won the highest number of awards in the Swachh Survekshan 2020 venture, which is an annual survey conducted under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Lucknow secured the 12th position in the country amidst the 47 other cities which were nominated and it also topped as the cleanest city in the state.
Lucknow goes from 121st (2019) to the 12th rank in the country
Uttar Pradesh has won two major awards out of 12 and 19 civic bodies in the state, ranked at the top. Speaking on the occasion of this achievement, the state CM added, ”This is a big achievement for the state as it won two major and 19 minor awards. Many cities have done exceptionally well in the survey.” Lucknow has also been chosen as the ‘fastest mover’ state capital’, in the country. The state capital scored 4728.28 in the survey this year and as compared to its SS 2017’s rank which was 269, this is a major improvement.
Swachh Survekshan is an initiative by the government, with a prime objective of engendering citizen participation in this mission along with imbibing a spirit of healthy competition among cities towards the collective goal of cleanliness. This survey was completed within a span of 28 days and it collected 1.9 crores of citizen feedback while covering 4242 cities in India.
