The Lucknow’s Ekana Cricket Stadium will host IPL 2018 matches of Delhi Daredevils this year. The rumor has it that Delhi’s management is not happy with the preparations in Kanpur’s Green Park and after inspecting the Lucknow’s ground, they have decided to shift their home matches from Kanpur to Lucknow.

The cricket stadium which has a seating capacity of 50,000 people, recently hosted day-night matches of Duleep Trophy. The Lucknow’s cricket stadium is also the 2nd largest stadium in India in terms of seating capacity.

The stadium, which is built on Saheed Path is also well connected with 5-star hotels and airport, thus making it convenient for players to move to and fro from Lucknow.

What went in favor of Lucknow stadium?

IPL is a game of money and fans and franchises always want their team to play in a stadium full of people. Lucknow, which has never hosted an international cricket match in last 2 decades will definitely witness a high footfall. Also, the facilities provided in Ekana stadium is far superior than many stadiums in India.

In comparison to Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla Ground, Lucknow’s stadium has 9000 more chairs, better outfield and modern facilities for players and media.

Recently, Ekana stadium was scheduled to host a match against New Zealand but with the preparation incomplete, the match was canceled by the BCCI.
