Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar Metro & Namo Bharat Rapid Rail start with strong passenger turnout
The newly inaugurated Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar Metro and Namo Bharat Rapid Rail Service made an impressive start, with nearly 5,000 passengers riding the metro from GNLU to GIFT City on the first day.
The Namo Bharat Rapid Rail service, covering Ahmedabad, Sabarmati, and Chandlodia, recorded 320 passengers on launch day. These early numbers suggest strong interest in these transportation options, which are set to enhance regional connectivity.
Vande Bharat Metro between Ahmedabad and Vadodara to begin soon
Following the launch of the Ahmedabad-Bhuj Rapid Rail, the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail service is set to expand with a new line connecting Ahmedabad and Vadodara. Trains running at 110 to 120 km/h will reduce travel time between the two cities to just 70 minutes.
Plans are also in discussion to extend the service to Vadodara and Surat.
AMC to spend ₹5 Cr on bridge repairs amid monsoon damage

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced resurfacing plans for seven bridges, including Ellis Bridge and Sardar Bridge. Repairs are estimated to cost between Rs 4.5 crore to Rs 5 crore.
A’bad recycled 1.67 million metric tonnes of waste since 2015
A report by Anant National University highlights that Ahmedabad has recycled 1.67 million metric tonnes of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste since 2015. The city’s collaboration with DNP Infrastructure has positioned Ahmedabad as a leader in sustainable urban development.
Currently processing 1,000 tonnes of C&D waste daily, the city plans to further increase efficiency with a second processing plant in Gyaspur, reducing transport distance and carbon emissions.
AMC cracks down on unauthorized hoardings across the city
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) launched a major operation on Tuesday to remove unauthorised advertising hoardings throughout the city. Notices have been sent to advertising agencies and property owners who failed to pay the required licence fees for displaying ads, according to an official press release.
The crackdown aims to regulate illegal advertisements and ensure compliance with city regulations.
