GSRTC introduces daily Volvo bus service from Ahmedabad Airport to Dhordo
The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has announced a new daily Volvo bus service from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport to Dhordo, starting Saturday. The service will pass through Bhuj, catering to the growing influx of tourists visiting the Kutch Rann Utsav.
The 46-seater air-conditioned bus will depart from Ahmedabad airport at 6 a.m., offering a direct and convenient travel option for tourists arriving from other states and abroad. The service aims to enhance connectivity to one of Gujarat’s most popular tourist destinations.
City’s minimum temp rises to 18.1°C on Friday; forecast indicates a drop today
Ahmedabad’s minimum temperature rose to 18.1°C on Friday, which is 3°C higher than the seasonal average. The maximum temperature, however, remained at 29.8°C, 1.5°C below normal. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature is expected to be around 16°C and the maximum 32°C on Saturday.
IMD officials have forecast no significant change in minimum temperatures over the next five days. Late-night and early-morning hours will remain cool, while afternoons are likely to be warm.
City set to host International Book and Children’s Film Festivals
The Ahmedabad International Book Festival 2024 will be held at the Sabarmati Riverfront Event Centre. Running concurrently with the 6th edition of the Ahmedabad International Children’s Film Festival (AICFF), the event is organised in collaboration with the National Book Trust.
The film festival will feature award-winning children’s films from various countries, including “Big” (China), “Desa Tuman” (Indonesia), “Masti Ni Pathshala” (India), and “Felix the Fox” (USA). The nine-day event aims to provide an engaging experience for literature and film enthusiasts alike.
Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train stations to feature modern amenities
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project is set to transform rail travel with state-of-the-art bullet train stations designed for functionality, passenger comfort, and sustainability. Key stations along the corridor, including Mumbai, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad, and Sabarmati, will offer modern facilities such as spacious seating, business lounges, baggage lockers, nurseries, and high-quality restrooms.
These stations will be strategically located within city limits and integrated with local transport systems, including metro lines, buses, and railway networks, providing seamless connectivity for passengers.
GTU to offer semiconductor course to address industry skill gap
Gujarat Technological University (GTU) is set to introduce a specialised course in semiconductor manufacturing titled “Fundamentals of Semiconductor Package Manufacturing and Test”. The programme will be available to BTech and MTech students from electronics, electrical, mechanical, and materials engineering disciplines.
This initiative is part of GTU’s efforts to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in the semiconductor sector. Banchhanidhi Pani, Commissioner of Technical Education, stated that the curriculum is being developed in collaboration with IIT Gandhinagar, aligning with the National Education Policy 2020 to enhance students’ employability and industry readiness.
