In a significant development for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor, the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) announced the completion of 100 kilometers of viaducts and 230 kilometers of pier work. This remarkable feat underscores the substantial progress made in realizing this ambitious project.
The 100-kilometer viaduct construction milestone was reached through the innovative ‘Full Span Launching technique’ (FSLM), employing 40-meter long ‘full span box girders’ and ‘segmental girders.’ This cutting-edge approach not only accelerates construction but also enhances the efficiency and durability of the infrastructure.
Expansion and modernization at Kankaria cargo terminal
The Kankaria cargo terminal is poised for a significant makeover, with an investment of 80 crores earmarked for its development. The ambitious project, scheduled to be completed within five months, aims to elevate the terminal to international standards.
Presently handling a diverse range of goods, including coal, fertilizers, salt, iron and steel, edible oil, minerals, milk and milk products, automobiles, chemicals, FMCG, and agriculture-related items, the Kankaria yard will witness an expansion from 66 covered sheds to an impressive 168 wagons. This expansion is expected to optimize the utilization of rakes and provide enhanced storage capacity.
The redevelopment project addresses various challenges faced by the existing infrastructure, such as limited covered space and division of the yard into three parts.
Gujarat police has retracted the decision to relieve TRB jawans
Gujarat police’s decision to withdraw approximately 6400 jawans from the traffic brigade force has triggered widespread protests. In response to this decision, Gujarat TRB jawans opted for a mass leave, expressing their discontent.
Subsequently, on Thursday, the Gujarat Director General of Police (DGP) issued a circular, reassuring the public that the jawans would continue to regulate traffic as usual.
