Gujarat University is set to host the Dharma Dhamma Conference starting today, with the Vice President of India attending the Meet. After the event, the Vice President will inaugurate the newly developed Arogya Van on the university campus.

IMD issues yellow alert for heavy rain in Ahmedabad
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Ahmedabad as heavy rain is expected in the coming days. The active monsoon trough over Gujarat is predicted to bring moderate to heavy rainfall to most parts of the state.
From the 23rd of August to the 26th of August, Ahmedabad is likely to experience cloudy skies with heavy downpours, and temperatures are expected to range between 25°C and 34°C. The monsoon’s impact has already been felt in the city, with 19 flights delayed at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Thursday due to bad weather.
AMC to install 1,500 air quality sensors
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced plans to tackle the city’s growing air pollution. On Thursday, the standing committee shared that 1,500 air quality sensors will be installed at key crossroads across Ahmedabad.
These sensors will be connected to a command-and-control center, providing real-time alerts on air pollution levels. In areas where pollution is most severe, mist machines will be deployed as part of the broader strategy to improve air quality.
DEO shuts down 25 private schools due to low enrollment
The District Education Officer of Ahmedabad has ordered the closure of 25 private schools in the city, citing insufficient student enrollment over the past two to three years.
The affected institutions include A-One Primary School in Satellite, HB Kapadia New Primary School (English Medium) in Memnagar, Nutan Primary School (Gujarati Medium) near Prabhat Chowk, Sanskar Primary School in Chandlodia, Ashish Hindi School in Vastral, Astha International School in Vatva, Ashish Shikshanteerth Sadguru Vidyalaya on IOC Road, KS Vidyalaya near Raipur Darwaja, and others.
