However, Ahmedabad has not received the expected rainfall, with the city recording only 38.60% of its seasonal rainfall up to July 26. Meteorologist Ambalal Patel explains the reasons behind this disparity.
Why isn’t Ahmedabad receiving enough rain?
Ambalal Patel explains that Ahmedabad isn’t getting much rain because strong clouds and air currents are missing in the area. The Southern Hemisphere’s conditions aren’t helping the monsoon, which is why there’s heavy rain from Kerala to South Saurashtra, but not in Ahmedabad.
The Bay of Bengal system isn’t as active, and Ahmedabad’s distance from the sea means less chance of rain reaching the city. The weather system weakens before it can bring rain to Ahmedabad, even though it affects Vadodara.
Weather forecast for the coming days
Patel indicates that the weather system over the Bay of Bengal is expected to become more active, potentially bringing rain to parts of Central and North Gujarat. Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar may receive significant rainfall between July 27 and 29 as the system intensifies. Additionally, scattered showers may occur in some areas during this period.
