Ahmedabad’s Sardar Patel Ring Road is set to undergo a major ₹2,100 crore revamp. Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) has finalised plans to expand the 76 km road, from a four-lane to a junction-free, six-lane highway. Additionally, two-lane service roads will be added on both sides.
Know about the upgrade
The upgrade will include footpaths, green zones, and the widening of the two existing bridges over the Sabarmati River, at Bhat and Kamod. Both of the bridges will be upgraded from two lanes to three lanes. A flyover will also be constructed at the Dholera Expressway Junction.
Approved by the state’s Chief Minister, the project aims to alleviate traffic, boost local development, and improve inter- and intra-state transport. With sustainable measures incorporated, the expansion promises to enhance traffic flow, reduce congestion, and contribute to the growth of Ahmedabad’s peri-urban areas.
