Ahmedabad is gearing up for Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour concerts at the Narendra Modi Stadium this weekend. With over 1 lakh attendees expected each day, including VVIPs, the city has implemented an elaborate security plan to ensure the safety of all concertgoers. NSG, police, and disaster response units stationed at key locations
A 4,000-strong security force, including Black Cat Commandos of the National Security Guard (NSG), three Quick Response Teams, and ten Bomb Disposal squads, will oversee the event. Additionally, 3,825 police personnel, including senior officers and over 3,500 constables, will maintain law and order.
The SOG and Ahmedabad Crime Branch will monitor key locations, while firefighters, paramedics, and ambulances will be stationed across the premises. A disaster management plan, coordinated with the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority, will be tested with a mock drill.
Advanced security measures include 150 door frame metal detectors, 250 hand-held detectors, and two baggage scanners, with CCTV teams monitoring the stadium and parking areas.
Traffic restrictions and parking arrangement
Traffic management has also been prioritised. The Ahmedabad Traffic Police announced temporary closures around the stadium, redirecting vehicles to alternate routes via Tapovan Circle, ONGC crossroads, and Sharan Status Road.
To ease congestion, 14 parking spots have been arranged. Free shuttle services with 75 cars will transport attendees between parking lots and the stadium.
Extended metro services and additional trains
Metro services are likely to extend their operations till 12:30 AM, enabling attendees to return home comfortably. Additionally, Western Railway has announced three pairs of trains between Ahmedabad and Mumbai for the concert weekend, up from the two initially planned.
The concert gates will open at 2 PM, with performances beginning at 5:30 pm and concluding by 10 PM. With meticulous planning and an exceptional lineup of security measures, Ahmedabad is ready to welcome Coldplay fans for an unforgettable musical experience.
