As a precautionary measure, several public spaces in Ahmedabad will remain closed for two days. This decision comes in response to the ongoing impact of the Biparjoy cyclone on various regions of Gujarat. The state government has issued the closure of several public spaces in Ahmedabad including Atal Bridge, Riverfront, Kankaria Lake, Gandhi Bridge, and Jamalpur market. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city is expected to experience strong winds and varying degrees of rainfall on Friday.
Also, the District Education Officer (DEO) has mandated the closure of all schools, regardless of their affiliation, on June 16. A circular has been issued, requesting school staff to be present at the premises, as their assistance may be required at emergency shelters. With the city and the state bracing themselves for the cyclone, which has already made landfall, authorities are actively working on implementing safeguarding initiatives.
