New flights connect Ahmedabad to Kolkata and Goa from today
SpiceJet has launched two new flights from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Patel Airport, connecting the city to Kolkata and Goa. The Ahmedabad to Kolkata flight will depart at 2115 hours and arrive in Kolkata at 2345 hours. For travelers heading to Goa, a direct SpiceJet flight will take off at 1645 hours and land in Goa at 1820 hours.
Emission trading scheme commences in Ahmedabad
In a bid to combat air pollution, Mulubhai Bera, the State Minister of Tourism, Forest, and Environment and Climate Change, officially inaugurated the live trading of the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) in Ahmedabad. Additionally, an online application module for ‘One Time Import Permission’ for hazardous waste, compliant with Hazardous Waste Rules, 2016, has been launched. This module will enable applicants to request online disposal and approval for waste import applications.

Concerns rise as dengue cases surge in Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad is grappling with a surge in waterborne and vector-borne diseases following the monsoon season. Between August 1 and September 3, the city has reported 835 cases of dengue at various hospitals and urban health centers. In total, there have been 1,216 reported cases of dengue in the city this calendar year, up to September 3.
Closure of a duty-free liquor shop at SVPI Airport
The State’s Prohibition and Excise departments have taken action to shut down a duty-free liquor shop at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. This decision was made due to the shop’s alleged illegal sale of alcohol to all arriving passengers and its operation without a valid No Objection Certificate (NOC). Duty-free shops are typically reserved for international travelers, but the shop, operated by Mumbai Travel Retail Pvt. Ltd (MTRPL), was reportedly selling liquor to all passengers arriving at SVPI Airport.
