ICC World Cup 2023 to commence in Ahmedabad with thrilling ENG vs NZ opener

If you are a cricket enthusiast, you are in for a real treat this year! The ICC World Cup 2023 is set to take place in India this October, and the opening match between Australia and New Zealand will be played at the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 5.

The much anticipated championship will feature a total of 10 teams and 48 games. The qualifying teams for the championship include India, England, Australia, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh, with South Africa being the most recent addition to secure a direct entry.

Reportedly, India will play its opening match against Australia on October 8, while the highly anticipated match against Pakistan is slated for October 15. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will release the official schedule after the ongoing IPL season.

Apart from the finalized team for the World Cup 2023 championship, the last two spots will be determined through a qualifying tournament scheduled to take place in the months of June and July, to be held in Zimbabwe.

This tournament will feature a total of 9 teams, including two former champions, namely West Indies and Sri Lanka, as well as the Netherlands, Ireland, Nepal, Oman, Scotland, UAE and the qualifying tourney host nation Zimbabwe.
