Traffic surveillance CCTV cameras at 82 junctions in the city will soon be reactivated. These cameras had been inactive for two years due to technical glitches and an expired contract, resulting in a notable decrease in the issuance of e-memos for traffic violations. During this period, the city saw a drop from an average of 4000 e-memos daily to just 1500.

However, in a recent development, a new agreement has been reached to reactivate the CCTV cameras at these 82 junctions. This decision is expected to restore the enforcement of traffic rules, with an anticipated increase in the issuance of around 4 thousand memos daily.

The reactivation of these cameras aims to enhance surveillance and enforcement efforts, ultimately promoting safer roads in Ahmedabad.
