Ahmedabad sweltered under a blazing sun on Wednesday, recording a maximum temperature of 43.2°C, which is 4.2°C above normal for this time of year, among the highest this season. The minimum temperature wasn’t far behind, hitting 27.6°C, also 4.4°C above average. With the mercury soaring, fewer people ventured outdoors, leading to surging prices on ride-share platforms.
Meanwhile, India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued the following alerts:
Red Alert: Kachchh
Orange Alert: Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Patan, Mehsana
Yellow Alert: Surendranagar, Rajkot, Morbi
According to India Meteorological Department’s 7-day forecast, Ahmedabad will continue to experience clear skies and intense heat throughout the week. Maximum temperatures are expected to remain above 40°C, while minimum temperatures will hover just below 30°C. The city is likely to witness particularly sunny days on April 13 and 14, with Sunday’s high possibly reaching 41°C.
While no formal alert has been issued for Ahmedabad today, conditions meet the criteria for a heatwave, and residents are strongly advised to stay indoors, stay hydrated, and avoid direct sunlight.
