Residents in Ahmedabad’s West Zone will experience a partial water supply disruption on March 27 and 28 due to essential repair work on the Western Trunk Main pipeline. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has urged citizens to plan accordingly.
According to an AMC press release, the repair and shifting work is part of the Engineer Water Project. A 1,600 mm diameter Western Trunk Main pipeline, which supplies water from Kotarpur Water Works to the West Zone, has reported leaks at multiple locations. Key repairs will be carried out near Chimnabhai Bridge in Sabarmati and Akhbar Nagar Circle.
To facilitate this, the Western Trunk Main pipeline will be temporarily shut down on March 27. As a result, the evening water supply will be suspended across several areas, including Sabarmati, Chandkheda, Paldi, Naranpura, Ashram Road, Vasna, and Vadaj. However, Ranip will remain unaffected.
On March 28, the morning and evening water supply will be regulated based on available water stock. The AMC has advised residents in the affected areas to store sufficient water in advance. Citizens can contact the AMC’s helpline for updates or assistance during the disruption.
