Each health worker in Goa is now insured with ₹50 lakhs cover

Goa has recorded an average of over 550 cases in September so far

In view of the increasing Coronavirus cases in Goa, the Chief Minister has announced on twitter, a life insurance cover of ₹50 lakhs to each health worker in the state. Goa currently has 24,898 COVID-19 cases, out of which 4,946 cases are active. Though the state is the smallest landmass in the country, the average case rise has been over 550 new cases in the month of September.

The state has extended health and life insurance to all its health workers over the sustained spike of the Coronavirus infection in the state. With the Health Minister expecting a further surge in the number of daily infections to reach the tally of 1,000 cases, a cover of ₹50 lakh per health personal and corona warriors has been assured by the Chief Minister, who announced the directive via Twitter.

"The scheme provides insurance cover of Rs 50 lakh per health worker in case of loss of life due to COVID-19 or accidental loss of life on account of COVID-19 related duties, read the tweet. "Insurance cover of Rs 50 lakh has been extended to all health workers in Goa," said the CM.
