The Goa government on Saturday introduced its new 5-year electric mobility promotion policy to drive towards 30% EV adoption by 2025. Titled Goa Electric Mobility Promotion Policy 2021, the plan aims to create 10,000 direct and indirect jobs in the state, powering e-development. As per reports, the policy also aims to upgrade all diesel marine vehicles to enable a mix of solar and electric fleet, in line with the practices of sustainable energy consumption.

The Goa Electric Mobility Promotion Policy 2021 will pave the way for multiple e-charging stations across the state. A well-equipped charging circuit corridor, with a power station every 3 km in the city and 25 km on the highway, will be set up in Goa.
Besides availability and accessibility, the policy also works on the economies of the upgrade - giving subsidies on electricity between 20-50% for installing charging stations. A 20% rebate will follow for mega projects, 30% for small schemes and about 50% for startups, read reports.

The GEMPP envisions to wire Goa to become an example of International Standards for EV adoption across the spectrum of e-supported commercial and passengers sectors. A prototype model will be set up here for the others to replicate and follow.
As per reports, the Department of New and Renewable Energy and a newly constituted State Electric Vehicle Board will be tasked to administer and execute the policy. The scheme will further be backed by government officials of the State Transport and Electricity Department, Goa Energy Development Authority & Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL).
