Chicalim district of Goa to get a new bio-methanation plant soon

Besides Chicalim, many other districts of Goa, like Margao have already started work on the bio-methanation plants

The foundation stone for the upcoming bio-methanation plant in Chicalim, Goa, has been laid. The plant is expected to hold a treatment capacity of about five tons of wet waste per day. As per reports, the project will be operational within the next five to six months. Besides this, November also noted the inauguration ceremony of a materials recovery facility (MRF) at Chicalim, at the inaugural event the citizens were assured that the dump around the area would be cleared soon.

The plant will span out in around 4,000 sqm of land

As per reports, the Chicalim communidade has allotted around 4,000 sqm for the bio-methanation plant. The panchayat ministers of the district have asked the locals to be more vocal about waste segregation and spread awareness to make the bio-methanation plant a success.

According to reports, around ₹120 crores has been allocated to the state by the central government under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Gramin Scheme. Besides Chicalim, many other districts of Goa, like Margao have already started work on the bio-methanation plants.
