Waving tiranga on the base camp of quintessential Mt Everest, against the storming hailstorms, a blanket of snow and jittering cold, stood 10-year-old Rhythm Mamania- proud, brave and gutsy. In what can be called a tale of mind-boggling courage, 10-year-old Mumbai's Rhythm Mamania became one of India’s youngest mountaineers to climb the Everest base camp. The national-level skater took a total of 11 days to achieve this extraordinary feat.

Mumbai girl makes it big!

Rhythm was accompanied by her parents, Harshal and Urmi, on this adventurous journey of scaling the Everest base camp, situated at a height of 5,364 metres. Bringing great pride to her country, this class 5 student reached the Everest base camp on May 6 at around 1 PM after trekking various steep terrain in harsh climate conditions, with temperature dipping to a cruel -10˚C. Talking about the experience, Rhythm said "Skating ring or base camp summit, it's the determination that gets you a long way."

Determined, gutsy & brave!

According to the little trekker's mother, Rhythm has been passionate about trekking since the age of 5. The first long trek that she undertook was the 21-km Dudhsagar trek, after which there was no looking back. Since then, Rhythm has climbed various peaks in the Sahyadri ranges like Mahuli, Sondai, Karnala and Lohagad.

While other trekkers and members from the Satori Adventures, decided to take a helicopter on their way back, Rhythm insisted to walk down the entire stretch. Following this, the happy family bid adieu to the one of the world’s deadliest mountains and proceeded to descend from the base camp on foot.
