2,208 new COVID-19 cases in India reported in the last 24 hours

Showing a jump in the number of positive cases, 2,208 new COVID-19 cases in India were reported in the last 24 hours, as compared to the 1,112 cases on Thursday and 830 cases on Wednesday. The total number of positive coronavirus cases in India now stands at 4,46,49,088 including 19,398 active cases (0.04% of the total positive cases).

Meanwhile, the recovery rate in India currently stands at 98.77%, with the recovery of 3,619 patients in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally of recovered patients to 4,41,00,691.

India reports 12 COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours 

The fatality rate was recorded at 1.18% with 12 coronavirus deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the national tally to 5,28,999. Out of these, 9 were in Kerala, and 3 in Maharashtra.

On the other hand, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.55% while the weekly positivity rate stood at 1.12%, according to the health ministry data.

Also in the same period, a total of 1,42,704 tests were conducted, increasing the overall tally to over 90.05 crore. According to the ministry’s latest report, 219.60 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the country so far. 

Over 4.12 crore adolescents have been administered with the first jab of COVID-19 since the beginning of the vaccination drive for this age bracket.
