Knocksense Shorts | Union govt to start free COVID booster shots for 18+ from July 15

As a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to celebrate the 75th anniversary of India's Independence, the central government has decided to launch a special 75-day drive to provide free COVID booster shots for 18+ population of the country.

The Union Minister addressed a press conference on Wednesday and said, "It has been decided that from July 15th, 2022, until the next 75 days, all citizens above 18 years of age will be given booster doses free of cost. This facility will be available at all government centers."

According to the statistics, less than 1% of the 77 crore target population aged 18 to 59 have taken the precautionary COVID-19 booster dose. However, almost 26% of the 16 crore target population of 60 years and above, healthcare and frontline workers have had their booster shots.

To get your booster dose, one can directly visit the nearest government vaccination centre or book a slot via CoWIN.
