Developmental work on Indore metro has picked up pace, and the metro tracks have been put up in, at least, half of the city. Moving forward, geotechnical survey is being conducted in various areas of the city to complete the metro line, which also includes the 8.62 km underground stretch from Regal to Indore airport.
The authorities are awaiting results of the geotechnical survey for Indore metro, which will take into account geographical, tourism, social, and sustainability in order to strategically place the underground metro stations.
The said survey is being conducted using drones and other advanced machinery and is expected to go on for 1-2 months. Once the results of the survey arrive, the tenders will be issued and the construction for underground metro stations will begin.
On the metro line from Regal to Indore airport, underground stations will be constructed in Regal, Indore Municipal Corporation headquarters, Chhota Ganpati, Bada Ganpati, Ramchandra Nagar, Kalani Nagar, and one near Indore's Devi Ahilyabai Holkar airport.
As for the targets set for starting Indore metro, a trial run for the priority corridor has been scheduled for September 2023 while it has to be completed and opened by March 2024.
