A mega vaccination drive against measles will start from Feb 20 in view of the 20 measles cases in Indore in less than a fortnight, along with a singular case of rubella. The vaccination drive, which is an attempt to prevent any further increase of measles in the city, will focus on Chandan Nagar, Khajrana and Azad Nagar areas of Indore.

Children will be given vitamin tablets for immunity

District immunization officer, Dr. Tarun Gupta said "we have decided to run a vaccination drive for children who didn’t take the vaccination during the previous campaigns. We will also distribute Vitamin tablets during the drive to increase immunity among children." Furthermore, health workers will be going door to door in the worse affected areas of Indore to screen children for measles.

Indoris will also be able to get the Measles-Rubella vaccine on all the centers for six days. It must be noted that the outbreak has already claimed its first victim with an 11-year-old kid from Indore succumbing to the illness last week, marking the first death caused by measles in Madhya Pradesh in 2023.
