Indore's Nehru Park revamped; Expected to be open for the public in Feb

Aditya Vikram

One of the oldest parks in Indore city, Indore's Nehru Park had been undergoing renovation and redevelopment for nearly four years. After several stoppages in the work over these years, the revamped park is all set to open for the public with a slew of upgrades. The location of the park's entrance gate has also been changed and there will now be only one point of entry to the park.

What's new about the revamped Nehru park?

With a focus on enhanced security for visitors, the new-look Nehru Park will have 24x7 CCTV surveillance while the park will also appear a lot greener with its green cover being increased. The park's toy train, a popular attraction, has also been redone and will take its usual route along the periphery of the park. A ride of the toy train will cost between Rs 40 and Rs 50.

Furthermore, the visitors will now have to pay Rs 10 as entry fees while the morning and evening walkers can get special passes made for themselves. It must be noted that the entry to the park, before the redevelopment, used to be free.

The project to give Indore's Nehru Park a facelift began in 2017 with Indore Municipal Corporation at the helm. However, the redevelopment was taken up by Indore Smart City in 2019 with Rs 10 crore being the estimated project cost at the time.
