Knocksense Shorts | Indore administration gears up for enforcement of new Noise Control Act

Khushboo Ali

In a recent meeting chaired by Collector Ilayaraja T, officials from the Police Department and Pollution Control Board in Indore, announced strict measures against unauthorized use of sound amplifiers. Emphasising compliance with Noise Control and Noise Pollution (Regulations and Control) Rule 2000, authorities stated that loudspeakers, including those used in religious places, must adhere to prescribed standards and decibel limits.

Violators installing speakers without permission will face severe consequences. To enforce these regulations, a dedicated flying squad comprising tehsildars, police station in-charges, and Pollution Control Board officers will monitor and investigate instances of noise pollution and unauthorized loudspeaker use. Training for squad members is underway, and collaborative efforts with religious leaders aim to ensure widespread awareness and adherence to the rules. The initiative aligns with the Chief Minister's directives for responsible sound amplifier usage in the region.
