The Madhya Pradesh government has long been strategizing and testing paperless billing system for electricity bills in different part of the state. Following the initiative, the Madhya Pradesh West Zone Electricity Distribution Company (MP West Discom) is now going to implement the method in Indore and Ujjain divisions.

MP Discom has discontinued the distribution of paper bills in the zones. From now on the power bills will be sent on mobile phones of all the 40 lakh consumers in both divisions.

Even though the implementation of paperless billing system is here to make the system a better one, there are challenges like how to reach out to the consumers who are not adept with technology or do not use smartphones.
