From extensive afforestation drives to pathbreaking waste disposal methods and water conservation initiatives, the citizens and authorities in Indore have collectively worked to maintain the title of the Cleanest City of India.

The authorities, Indore Municipal Corporation and Indore Smart City Limited, continue to work towards the implementation of sustainable measures aimed at minimizing pollution levels. Pertaining to the same, 3 new reference-grade air quality monitoring stations were inaugurated on Wednesday under Indore's Clean Air Catalyst project.

Most of the urban regions of India are severely affected by alarming levels of air pollution. The considerable surge in industrial and vehicular emissions over the past few decades has led to the degradation in the air quality, even in Indore.

Notably, the newly inaugurated air quality monitoring (AQM) stations have been launched in a joint effort with city authorities and the US Agency of International Development (USAID). These are targeted to provide accurate data related to the composition of the city's ambient air and computing the level of pollutants and fine particulate matter.

This in turn will help in forming strategies to minimize pollution levels and for improving Indore's overall air quality.
