Moreover, according to the advisory circulated to the District Collectors of the state, the ban is also applicable on the registration of provisional licenses for all types of crackers till January 31. The step has been taken to curb the purchase of firecrackers through interim licenses at the city level during festivals like Diwali and Dussehra.

The ban has been imposed yet again so as to curb any chances of air pollution, that may give rise to respiratory diseases, especially in patients impacted by COVID-19. As per surveys conducted by experts, there is a threat of a third wave of COVID-19 in the country. The ban is a much-needed one, considering the given situation and known effects of the smoke emitted from the firecrackers.
