Boosting medical research infrastructure in the state, the Institute of Tropical Medicine and Virology will be established in Jaipur soon. This facility will aid in extensive research and analysis of viral infections, in a bid to find new ways of diagnosis and treatment. Currently, India has the National Institute of Virology in Pune and this new institute would strengthen the research ecosystem of the country. Given the uncertainties propelled by the pandemic, the state government has undertaken this decision.

MLAs asked to direct funds for amping up medical facilities

The decision regarding the establishment of this institute was announced by the state government in a virtual meeting of all parties on Sunday. As per reports, a total of ₹600 crores will be refunded to the MLAs, which was taken from their allocation for the vaccination program in the state. Here, it is to be noted that the elected representatives have been asked to spend the amount on amping up the medical facilities. Reportedly, they will be able to use the corpus for other development works from next year.

Simultaneously, the state authorities have deployed streamlined efforts to make sure that the vaccination targets are achieved in time. Being one of the states with a high count of beneficiaries, 2,16,92,192 doses have been administered in Rajasthan so far. Additionally, the widespread drives being witnessed in the territory will make sure that this count multiples significantly in the days to come.

While the pandemic situation has been brought under control in Rajasthan, vaccination is the most important weapon to combat any further spread of the virus. Therefore, it is pertinent for all citizens to get vaccinated as soon as possible, besides spreading awareness about the same.
