Somya Agarwal

Prominent destinations like Rishikesh and Auli in Uttarakhand, Leh Ladakh, Sikkim and Kovalam in Kerala are generally featured as adventure hot-spots of India. Rajasthan will now be seen running the race along these places as an adventure tourism destination.

Known for its glorious historical hill forts and palaces, the famous Thar Desert, Sam Sand Dunes, unique culture and serene blue skies, Rajasthan has umpteen places for exhilarating activities and hence, is likely to be promoted as an adventure destination.

Adventure sports in Rajasthan

Being home to very-many historically significant sites does help with the tourist footfall. Riding on high optimism, Rajasthan is all set to add the tag of an adventure destination to it’s name. Exciting activities like hot air-balloon travel, zip lines, paragliding, quad biking and water centric activities like banana rides will be part of the program. Special areas in Rajasthan will be set up to augment these adventure sports.

Reportedly, the Tourist Department is still chalking out detailed guidelines before beginning the promotion campaign.
