One exam for all govt jobs; Rajasthan announces Common Eligibility Test

The Common Eligibility Test will be conducted by the state as per the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) directives.

The Rajasthan government has announced a common eligibility test, to centralise the recruitment procedure of all government jobs. Candidates for government posts like Village Development Officer, Patwari (Village Accountant), Ministerial Staff and more will now be shortlisted by the Common Eligibility Test (CET). As per reports, the CET will be conducted by the state as per the directives of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC).

One exam, many opportunities

The Rajasthan Cabinet has decided to standardise the recruitment process of all government jobs. For this, a Common Eligibility Test will now govern all applications for opportunities in the public domain. In addition to this, the provision of interviews for various posts will be eliminated and the concept of direct recruitment examinations will be adopted.

For this, the Rajasthan State and Subordinate Services (Direct Recruitment by Combined Competitive Examination) Rules, 1999, (RAS Recruitment) and other service rules will be modified to remove the interview assessment. However, they will continue to hold value in Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) examinations.
